[Simonds Mill Hand File, American Pattern, Single Cut, Square, Black Oxide Coating, Fine, 6" Length, 19/32" Width, 7/64" Thickness ]File was 7 13/16 inches long end to end, and the file grooves covered 5 1/4 inches of that length.The fine pattern was consistant throughout, and wrapped all the way around the tool so that you could use either side and the edges to file.Purchased to grind off nail burs for a pinebox derby car. Worked perfectly for that task, the nail was chucked into the drill and the file was handheld during the process. With drill running full speed, the file slowly removed the imperfections on the shank and head (simultaneously thanks to the pattern wrapping around the tool). There were no signs of wear on the file after several minutes of grinding. Keep in mind this is a fine fine so by design it does not remove much material during use.Pics show the file AFTER it was used for this task.
